I'm in the market for a 1/10 scale touring car that I can easily upgrade to brushless ESC, brushless motor and 3S lipos. The drive train will have to be HEAVY DUTY to withstand brushless power.
I want the jet-like thrust that the Traxxas VXL vehicles provide, but in a touring car for superior handling.
Are there any better than a TC4 or TC5 for this purpose. Any other ideas?

How much better do you want than a TC4 or TC5 ???
They're 350-500.00, if you want to spend more , look into XRAY,Schumacher
If your not going to seriously race for comp, spending more would kinda be a waste of $ ?
There are other options ? ;

I think the biggest issue you'll find is that most on-road cars aren't designed for 3S brushless power. For the most part they re built for old brushed motors or brushless but on 2S max. I would say that if anything you'll need to find as many upgrade drive train parts and suspension parts that you can because 3S will likely eat the stock stuff up. And also buy extras of those parts. If you want fast look at Castles new 9000 KV motor and run 2S it'll be hard on parts but not near as hard as 3S power.
Just some things to look at.
