Check out my Mamba 5400 powered RC18R with the Exotek ch***is conversion. The Maxamps 860mah 2 cell packs fit great. I found that taping the battery to the ch***is every time I wanted to remove it was a little tedious so I taped the battery to the battery strap. I had to add two washers to the bottom of the battery posts to give enough clearance. Getting the battery out is easy now. The 860 pack gives me over 10 minutes of run time with the 5400kv motor geared at 14/55. I can't wait to run it at the Micro Nationals at the end of the month!

LOL, I guess the bad word filter is a little strict!

Tell me about it that filter is strong. I cleared it out so you can use the word chassis now.

How long will it run on that battery? I see it about 10 min. I am looking to make one of the exotec conversions for 18t too. I am not sure what battery would be best. I want to use 3cell or saddle set for 2 cell for a longer run time.

You could run two of those 860's in parallel. They fit so good it's almost like they were made for the chassis.

In your "Rules" post, it is also filtering "bypass, classified, and assume". :)

Nice and clean setup Tom.

Been thinking about building up a 18R with an Exotek myself.

Just a thought here; but have you considered moving your transponder forward and replacing your receiver with a GWS naro receiver? It would clear up that space that your current receiver is occupying.

I have the Futaba FASST system and that's the smallest receiver available for it right now. Hopefully someday we will see a smaller one but it's not too bad.

I just checked the dimensions for that receiver.. that thing is huge compared to my naro, which comes in at 1" x .59" x .37"

Sorry this is slightly off topic, but has anyone seen the new 18r specific chassis by exotek? It puts the motor back to the rear and offers a more stock type layout. I dont race onroad, so this move really made me wonder why it was done. Was the mid motor chassis giving to much rear weight with the batteries at the rear, or is there somthing else?

the TEK18R's stock motor placement makes it easier to balance the chassis better then the mid motor TEK18. Atleast that's what EXOTEK said about it.

the other change is that the TEK18R chassis is flat unlike the TEK18's front kickup.
