Hey guys, looking for some advice,I have factory team tc4 that I would like to make very fast.Have any of you done this?I am looking to hit speeds of 80+ mph and need suggestions for gearing, motor, esc,Iknow that I will have to use lipos and brushless but don't know where to start,I have a Mamba Max 5700,6900,7700,and I don't think any of these will do it,also what type or brand of tires will hold up?Thanks!

hey cous, i just sold my tc4 team on the bay of E , i had a 10 turn in it with a 10 cell pack (ni-mh) it was struggling, huge torque steer on power and serious squirm under braking, it was the standard team kit but i was meticulous about set up and it was still a real hand full, have fun though and let us know how it goes, mcn1:D

I also have a Schumacher mi3 that could be used but I have it set up to race and I have had success with it,so I did not want to take a chance of destroying it by "bashing" with it,so the old tc4 came out of the closet, I guess I will try it and see what happens.

good man, when i give my experiences i dont mean to put any body off what they are planning, its more fun in my opinion if a car is on the edge of what it can take, only then is it down to driver skill, and you are wise to save the schuie for race day,it runs rings around the tc4 with hot motors fitted, have fun dude, mcn1

5700/7700 mamba and a 3s is all you needed to do something nasty Fast ?
If you desire something really goofy hook a 4s up to it ?

Here is what ive found.
Motor - NEU 1509 2Y Brushless
Speed Controller - Castle Creations HV - 85 Brushless
Batteries - Evo 20 3300 8S1P Li-Poly
Run a gear ratio at about 2.3:1
This is what i have found but if you want to modify this it would still reach about 100+. This combination of things went about 140 so im sure if you dropped the very powerfull motor and LiPo.

Dragsters run the 5700kv to 118mph. So 80 plus is attainable. I ran my 7700kv mamba with 4s1p A123 cells today. Heated the packs up to 193F and the motor to over 200F. Stupid fast and split my tires in half.

What about tires?

I would say use BSR EHW belted velodrome sedan capped tires. Atleast that is what the TC3 that went 140mph used so im guessing those would be good.
Post your results if you ever get this together.

I will post my speeds as I get the car running, also it has not stopped snowing since yesterday so needless to say testing will not be anytime soon unless I can get out of town.Any ideas of who carries those tires?

This was in my Rustler based dragster. Needless to say that the motor is a gonner.:)

Here's something you may want to look into ??? I've seen these a while back and found them again. check it out, It might be something you may want to incorporate into your speed demon ???????? A 2 speed trans for a 540 mill ...

I am going to look into that,I am curious if it strong enough to withstand the torque of a brushlees+ lipo setup.

That is a pointless novelty item with brushless. Just gear up and have the battery power behind it.

If your goal is high speed passes, your gearing would probably be high enough to allow a smooth application of throttle to slim chances of torgue damage. I would be concerned with excessive voltage problems or heat issues first. Either way it sounds like fun project, best of luck ! I agree with the pointless remark also, but still sounds fun .
