there are hundreds of pinions for all sorts of rc designed motors, which is great exept Neu motors are built for air planes. Whare can i get a pinion for a 5mm shaft without a flat?
To kill time, I'll often pick a cool looking or or popular nitro rc, then go searcing the internet for ways of converting it to electric. Today its the HPI Baja B5.
Im gona need eather two Neu motors or about eight Mamba Maxs.

check with Mike at RC Monster for Pinions, he should exactly what you need and then some.
Fine Design Baja 5B conversion, they claim 8HP !!!!!

I have a Stock motored Baja 5B with Home built Tuned exhaust and It scrambles for traction.
With 8Hp and the responsivness of electric, I bet It's a Monster !
Who ever buys one, they better have a deep pocket to buy LOTS of tires with.

Yeah, Mike at RCM will most likely have what you need. He has 5mm bore in 32p and mod1 gears. There are also hardened Mod1 gear options for use with steel spurs. Don't use regular pinions with steel spur gears or you'll eat them up - there are differences in the gear geometry even though they have the same pitch.

Use the term "BLOWS" instead.

Guys...just so you know. You don't NEED to use grub screws to hold your pinions on...or even have a flat spot in the motor. I use this stuff up to 15kW...yes, that's 15,000 watts and I've never lost a pinion. We use it in airplanes and helis all the time.

How hard is it to remove that stuff if you like to change pinions fairly frequently, especially in the field? With a lock-tited (blue) grub screw, it comes off really easy.
Also, how does that stuff hold up when using metal pinions on metal spurs?

All you need to do is heat it up with a lighter or mini pen torch and it comes right off. :) Holds up just fine with metal to metal...our gearboxes are planetary steel...3 smaller metal gears rotating around a large metal "pinion" gear at the center that's attached to your motor shaft.
You're gonna have a BLAST with the Monster. :) Waiting for an engineer to show up for work, and I'll ask what you can use for the magnet.
