Well guys I have took the plunge and have decided to make a brushless 8ight t. My biggest problem though is figuring out what motor and esc to use. I will be using 4s lipos on stock gearing. Please let me know what motor and esc I should get as I am open to any and all opinions. Thanks guys.

Go with the Neu 1515 1y or 1512 1.5d and the Mamba Max with two fans.

if you want a motor that will tear your car apart within the first eight and a half seconds then the gravitational of wich will cause a small black hole to form, check out these guys. they have an 8hp motor they use to power a Baja 5b

the mamba max ESC isnt rated for over three cells. you may want to check out ESCs for boats. i'v found one that can easily handle 35 volts.

It isn't rated for 4S, but it seems to be working fine. Keep a fan on it and do the vented case mod.
I like the Neu 1512/2.5D 2000 KV or the 1515 /1Y 2200 KV for a truggy.

It looks as though I am going with a quark monster pro 125b and a Nemisis XLT-2. I am very familiar with fine design as that is where I got my e-lst2 and is where I am getting most of my parts for the 8ight t

Himmy,
Sounds like a geat combo !
Are you going to run a single 4s 8000 or are you going to use 2 packs ?
I see in your Sig your selling your 5B, I just sold mine a little while back.
What a awesome vehicle, all my buddies wanted to drive mine but not help
pay for tires. LOL

I am just having a hell of a time deciding what motor and esc combo to go with. Now I am looking at the MGM compro 160... Help me guys! I can't make a decision. I would love to have a Neu motor but just can't swing the money for them.
I will be using a single 4s 8000 and I also have 2 4s 3700 so I will be using all three just one at a time though.
I hear ya on the Baja. That things is an absolute blast to drive and ya it does seem to go through tires if you don't set them up perfect.

You have the same 4s's I have, I just bought a 4s 8000 MaxAmps and have 2 Fine Design 4s 3700's. The 3700 are potent packs ! I also have 2 2s 6000 wired in series and I think the 3700 has about the same punch ?
You can set the 5B up perfect all you want, the thing just eats those rear tires. I wore out the stock tires and bought 2 more pairs in 4 more months. Then I babied the hell out of them till I sold it. I miss it, It was a serious blast to drive.
The Baja SS is looking cool,I like the idea of a kit.

Ya I guess I should of said the tires will last longer if you get the beadlocks to line up perfectly but they will still be torn to shreads before you know it. I can't believe you were able to actually wear out the tires. Most people including myself have them rip before they wear out. Lucky duck!
Funny that we have the same lipos. lol

We just happen to have excellet taste and wisdom ?
The trick to keeping tires on the Baja was to CA the tires to the Foams !

it says that the mamba esc isnt rated at over a 3s but it can easilly handle 4. 5s will blow it up (tried it!). get the 1515 series neu motor or event the new 1521 series!

Wow that *****! That is the only section in the whole site that you have to be a member to view it. I will PM a mod and ask why. Sorry about that. If I can't get it taken care of I will just update this thread when I complete the project. Sorry.

As much as I'd like to take credit for it a guy by the name of Matt Butler did it and yes he is a prefessional. On the lstforums.com website you can see a lot of the other work he has done. His screen name is ThermalRd.
