I've had this Muggy roller since X-mas and I finally got around to finishing it this week. The Muggy was in excellent condition and the only things that I added are the Blue aluminum diff cases and mud guards. I used a Emaxx plate for the motor mount and a New Era battery tray for the lipo mount. I was planning on running it this weekend but I forgot that I sold the stock tires and the servo I was going to use pooped out on me. I was going to go with aftershock tires but now I don't know.
MM w/fan & HV Cap
Feigao 8XL w/ HV heatsink
18T Pinion
4S 5000mah lipo (I know, I know, it's not a Maxamps. It's all I got at the moment...)
Hobbico CS-170 Servo
Can anyone here recommend a good set of bashing tires for a Muggy?

Looks awsome hey can I have your work shop in the back ground :)
Hey what does your HV cap on the mamba max do?
For tires I like my set of dirt dawgs for bashing

Thanks for the comments. The CAP helps to keep the temps and voltage spikes down. I thought it was one of those "yeah right" mods but it really works. I never go above 90 degrees on my E-Aftershock and that was in 85 degree weather, 45 minute run. I did this mod to all my MM and added a fan to each just in case.
I'll have to check out some Dirt dawgs, Imex right?

Looks great, gonna be a whole lot of fun thrashing with that truck !
What kind of surfaces are going to be frequented for your bash sessions ?

Do you happen to have a part number for that cap or a link, as well as some more info I would love to do this to help temps since im running my Mamba on 14 cells.

Sure thing, no problem. On tower the part number is #5674.
Here's this thread about adding caps to a Quark:

My bash spot has two types of surfaces, hard packed dirt everywhere and a little sand pit. I'm dieing to test it out but I'm still waiting for tires to come in and I just installed the servo last night. I had to set the EPA down to 40%. I've never had to go that low before but the 333oz. wanted to rip the servo out of the tray.
It's a Hobbico servo and it seems faster than my Hitec servo.

Lot's of reading with great information, my head hurts now ?
Thanks for posting this valuable info Bluonyx.
Should have considered keepping the stock sneakers, would have ben perfect for the terrain you driving on/sounds like "typical track" surface ?
Bow ties or crime fighters would provide maximun traction I think, the dirt dogs are a decent choice for a all terrain tire.
I put a set of Losi Zombie Maxx tires on my E-LST and man let me tell you, Great Tire !!!!
Theres no bad choice for bashing anyway.

I'm glad I bought a set of Zombie Maxx's now. That's the ones that I'm waiting for and I'm going to use the set of RPM Spider Rims in the pics. They have the Stablemaxx offset which adds another 1" to the width. I'll take more pics when I get the tires on.
As for my bashing spot, I have to take my weedwacker with me this weekend because it is severly overgrown, and the shovels because some turd destroyed all our jumps.:( Oh well, just reminds me of my destructive we all had.

I had to do a little experimenting and found that I liked my zombies better with the Proline Xtra firm foams and had to use nylon reinforced tape on the insides of the tire because the rubber was so soft . Now they are PERFECT for me.
I use these tires on the RC track also they grip so dam well on dusty and loomy surfaces.
One of the better tires I found that grip really well on grass.
Bottom line you should be real happy them.
If you haven't already, do yourself the favor of buying aluminum 14mm hexes. The RPM rims are the bomb but they flex a little and a plastic hub will spin in time !!
Losi makes a great 14mm Hard Anodized hub and it secures to the axle,no falling off when you pull the wheel off.

I'm glad the Muggy uses LST2 axles with the aluminum hubs, I got 14mm, 17mm & 23mm sets. I liked them so much that I did the whole LST2 upgrade to my E-Aftershock, so now I guess it's a E-LST2. I also like the beefier arms and the rear hubs. NO MORE adjusting!

I really like the design of the LST2 axle carries and etc. My Buds who has the 2 have never had a problem with theirs.
Even as crazy as I drive I've only broken a couple of the LST1 hubs ,etc over the years.
If it was more problematic I'd swap in a heartbeat. Not only that, but I have a surplus of extra axles and stuff cheaply won in ebay auctions.
BTW, Those purple Lipo's of yours. What brand, prices decent ?? Thanx.

Hey Bluonyx,
Have read or seen the LST w/Muggy shock towers and shocks installed ? Just curious.
I already have half of another truck and a spare trans,I think I might try that next. I read it handles like a champion, In one mags it was called a "Revo Killer" by the writer of the article.

Yeah I saw the LST/Muggy conversion, I think it was on the LSTforums.com. I was going to try that but I wanted something with a center diff since I've never tried it before. I also did the Muggy because of the weight issue. It should be lighter so i wanna see if that makes a big difference too. I'm still waiting for those tires so I can decide, tranny or diff. Which one is better?
I sent ya PM on the lipo info.

The weight will make a difference for sure. Both of my E-LST's are pretty much exactly the same motor, esc, same sized tires, same sized Lipo and the one with the 3mm Carbon Fiber chassis has definitely more grunt and reaches top speed a lil' faster.
You should notice a huge difference bwtween the LST and Muggy. The Muggy also has a LOT LOWER CG so it's going to be a handling mo-chine !

Well I found a better battery tray, switched to a 8000mah 4S Lipo and got a new body from my LHS. They gave me it for free for just showing them my conversion, their a bunch of Nirto guys so they love seeing anything nitro converted. I also have another center diff that I locked just to try it out, and Mike from RCMonster just shipped my Muggy mount today. Been waiting two weeks for that one, no more Emaxx motor plate. With the Emaxx plate I'm not able to use the top center brace and I've notoiced a little flex without it.
I'll take more pics and a video when I install the new motor mount and locked center diff.
I just ordered a Neu 1515/1Y, so I haven't decided on putting it in my Muggy or LST2. Which one do ya think?
Bondonutz, I wanted to lol when you sent me the update on the lipo, sounded to good to be true. I hope they don't take the extra $9 and just tell you they sent it. Keep me updated, at least you get an extra little lipo though.

Ignore this one, why doesn't it allow you to delete a post if you make a mistake like, double posting?
Figured I'll use this post anyways. I just remembered that I had to switch to a 13T pinion because the 18T was way to high. The motor was getting above 180 and the MM over 110. I've never had it do that before. Once I did the switch to the 13T, the motor temps went to 140 and 100 on the MM. I also had to set the MM timing to low and punch to 30% to get rid of the cogging I had.

BLUONYX,
How much was the purple 8K 4s ? PM if nessassary.
The Muggy is looking SWEET ! I like the battery try also, can you please post a link ?
The Lipo situation is a Hoot, after it's all said and done I should beable to buy what I really wanted after I sell the "little ones" and hopefully the replacements will be
spot on ??
You seem to use the M.M. for most all your conversions so I want to ask a question;
In my newly built Emaxx I'm running a Feigao10L and a M.M. ESC and using F.D. 3700mah 4S lipo and I'm using 14/68 gearing.
Q; My ESC and battery stay pretty cool but the motor gets a little warmer than I would like it to be. The M.M. settings are Conservative and I feel the gearing is good also, I'm wondering if I dont have enough motor ? It hauls @ss and has TONS of power and torgue but maybe it's working too hard ?
Do you have any insight ? Thanx.

The lipo was $145 and I got it in 4 days. As for the battery tray it's from Tekno RC from their Revo conversion, I ordered 4 of them. I'm glad they worked out, I thought I was going to have to eat it on those. It fits the lipo perfectly. I used two little hollow balls from a turnbuckle as spacers underneath, to clear the mud guards. I also got the Lightning roll bars in so I'lll be addding one of those to, around the motor. While doing the Muggy I noticed that the mud guards will fit on the Lightning also with a little trimming. But that's another project I'll write about later.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t196/bluonyx/Lightning%20Stadium/CIMG0491.jpg
I use the MM for everything and I found it was way under rated. On my FLM-Maxx I started with a 10L 20/66 gearing but it overheated all the time. I like to run for 40-60 minutes straight, so the 10L wouldn't cut it. The minute I switched to the 9XL wow what a difference. I can pretty much gear it however I want and it stays cool. Fine Design pushes the 10L as being the prefect EMaxx motor but I'd definitely get an XL or Neu if the budget allows.

Well, My 10L is no longer a issue. It's locked up and done ? The ESC and battery were cool to touch and the motor was smokin' hot and locked. I bought it used,so any thing could have happened . It might have had a issue prior to me getting my fat fingers on it ? O-well.
So you think a 9XL is what I should go for in the Maxx even though it's so light ? I was wondering if i could get away witha 6XL so I could go stupid fast ?? I want to gear one up for some speed runs ?????
Thanks for posting all the links, especially the Packs ;-) Have you used your 8K-4S much, are you happy with it ????

If you wanna do stupid fast go with a 7XL. Good for speed runs on pavement, but lousy in the dirt. I still haven't found a good tire that hooks up good for my 7XL & bashing. When I floor it, the tires spin like crazy, I have to do slow and easy starts. I also had to adjust the throttle curve to start slow then punch it when it hits 30%.

You have the answer to my question and my answer to yours is;
Proline Line "Crimefighters or BowTies" for maximum traction potental in loose dry dirt !
Thanks for your help.

I still haven't seen my Novak stuff. I'm getting tired of waiting. You guys think a 3905 Max with a Mamba Max ESC and Feigo 9xl would be a good combo. I've got 2S 8K MA packs for these trucks. What else would I need to make this combo work?
