A lot of this depends on if you race or not.

I don't race. I haven't even bought a vehicle yet... lol
The plan is emaxx 3905 and Maxxamps 8k RTR kit:)

no need to worry about skins on your packs then. These are made to be used at tracks that require a protected Li-Po and if you not racing then you don't need them.

My club track doesn't require the skins, but I like the idea of protecting my packs. You will need the optional battery holders from Traxxas to fit the 8Ks in the 3905, and they haven't released that part yet. I got the detachable skins for my packs, but they won't quite fit with or without the skins. I taped the packs in just to give it a try and dropped 4 seconds off the lap times I was turning with 6 cell Venom 3K nimh packs. That was on a stock 3905. Wish the Novak parts would show up so I can really see what the truck can do. JMO, get the skins...cheap protection for pricey bats.

The reason I say not to go with them is because they can retain heat in the pack. A plain pack will run cooler. And with the loacation of the packs in the Traxxas vehicles it's pretty tuff to damage them.

Hmmm...good point. I didn't think about the heat factor. I didn't think the skins would be that much of an insulator, but I suppose anything wrapped around the pack would hold heat in. How about a skin with a heatsink? jk
